What can you do to increase engagement from your following? There are several simple things that you can do to encourage more engagement from your followers on Instagram as well as to increase your following in general.

1. Be sure that you are engaging with other accounts

If you want others to engage with you, you first need to make sure you are engaging with the right accounts, such as your customers, followers or even the competition. There’s nothing wrong with following the competition to get inspiration from them, it can even help you stay ahead of industry changes.

2. Make sure you are following the right accounts

Don’t treat your business account the same as your personal account. Because of Instagram’s algorithm, it doesn’t show your posts in chronological order, but rather in the order of the accounts you interact with the most. So try not to clutter up your business Instagram with personal accounts, but rather accounts that pertain to your business, like vendors or local businesses.

You can also create a hashtag that clients can use when posting about your business, so that you can engage with them and share their posts. This shows you care about what your clients are saying about your business.

4. Don’t forget about Instagram stories

Stories are the perfect way to share UGC, especially if you want to keep your Instagram timeline neater and more consistent. Stories will always appear at the top of your follower’s Instagram and will not get lost in their timeline, so it’s important to post at least one story a day.
